Random Recast: Milk Jugs Day 3

Filed under:

In Random Recast, we find new uses for ordinary things. This week: Milk jugs.

Though this idea for upcycling milk jugs is a little on the whimsical, I loved the ingenuity behind it: Use the empty plastic milk jugs to create sculptural flowers. Crafter Mary Anne Enriquez simply traced a flower shape around the top of the milk jug, then cut out the faux bloom. Next, she added a plastic medicine bottle lid and some old nylon seam binding to create a corsage. Again, it's definitely a statement piece. But the idea of cutting out flowers from milk jugs could be built upon. Imagine a wall of layered plastic flowers, inspired by this window display from anthropologie. Pretty, right?
