Could an extremely powerful solar flare destroy all the electronics on Earth?

It's a pretty well-known fact that the occasional sunspot can interrupt communications here on Earth, but from time to time, the sun has major solar flares that have the potential to cause more havoc. Could a flare-up wipe out all our electronics?
